Quick answer: A manufacturer makes the umbrellas in its own factories; a trader buys from factories and resells. To tell them apart, ask where the factory is, what the daily production capacity is, whether you can see the production line, and who controls quality and packing. Classic Umbrella (Dynamik Umbrella Pvt. Ltd.) has manufactured umbrellas since 1990, with factories at Khushkhera (Rajasthan), Kolkata and Bhiwandi and a capacity of about 1,000 dozen (12,000 pieces) a day.

Manufacturer vs trader at a glance
| Manufacturer | Trader | |
|---|---|---|
| Who makes the umbrellas | Their own factory | Another company’s factory |
| Control of specifications | Direct: fabric, frame, printing and packing are set in-house | Indirect: passed on to the factory |
| Changes and custom orders | Discussed with the people making them | Depends on the factory’s willingness |
| Range | Ask which categories they manufacture directly | Can be wide, mixing several factories |
| When a trader can make sense | Very small mixed orders across many product types |
